Parent/Child Incorporated
(PCI) is a private non-profit single purpose human services agency
that provides Head Start, Early Head Start, and Nutrition Services
to at-risk children and their families.

Head
Start: Serves children ages 3 years through compulsory entrance
into Kindergarten.
Families that would like to enroll
a child must meet the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services income guidelines and
be a resident of Bexar County Texas. For a child to qualify
for full day service, the parents must be working, in training,
or attending school. If the parents are not working, in training,
or attending school, the child qualifies for part-day services.
The following documents will be needed when registering your child(ren)
for Head Start services:
1. Proof of income (Department of Health and Human Services regulations
will be adhered to): 2006 Income Tax Form 1040, pay stubs, pay
envelopes, written statements from employers, or documents showing
current status as recipient of public assistance.
2. Proof of Parent/Guardians' enrollment in school or training
to qualify for full-day Head Start Services.
3. Child's original birth certificate.
4. Child's up-to-date immunization record.*
5. Current Medicaid letter or proof of Health Insurance, if applicable.
6. Proof of guardianship, if applicable.
7. Proof of Residency.

Early
Head Start: Serves infant and toddlers ages 6 weeks to 35 months
and expectant/parenting teens and women.
The following information will be needed when applying for Early
Head Start services:
1. Proof of income (HHS regulations will be adhered to): 2006
Income Tax Form 1040, pay stubs, pay envelopes, written statements
from employers, or documents showing current status as recipient
of public assistance.
2. Proof of Parent/Guardians’ enrollment in school or training
to qualify for full-day Head Start Services.
3. Child’s original birth certificate.
4. An original birth certificate is required for an expectant/parenting
teen applying for Early Head Start Services.
5. Child’s up-to-date immunization record.*
6. Current Medicaid letter or proof of Health Insurance, if applicable.
7. Proof of guardianship, if applicable.
8. Proof of Residency.

Families having children with special needs are encouraged to
register their child(ren) for Early Head Start services.
Parents are also encouraged to get an EPSDT physical examination
from their primary care provider and bring a copy to the center
staff to be filed in their child's folder. PCI will assist all
families with getting an exam when needed.

*Note: The Immunization Law for
Texas states that all Head Start children are to be up-to-date
on their immunizations by the first day of entry into a child
care facility, a child may be provisionally admitted if the required
immunizations have begun and are completed as rapidly as medically
feasible. Usually every 30 days until the child is up-to-date.
