Parent Involvement

Parent/Child Incorporated supports our parents as their child's first teacher. PCI houses Parent Centers and sponsors activities, workshops and trainings throughout the school year for parent/legal guardians, family members, community members, and staff at diverse venues and on a variety of topics. As parents, we believe that participation and involvement in our children's lives is our greatest investment and gift to them.

A FATHER GIVES THANKS

Dear Mrs. Bishop,

My name is Gilbert De La Rosa IV and my son (Gilbert V) attends [PCI Head Start at] Sun Valley Elementary. I am writing to thank you all for the work your
program and Sun Valley do. I currently work in the Middle East and
subsequently have to spend months away from home at a time; consequently
I come home to new things when I take a vacation. I recently spent 8
months abroad and upon arriving home in January I was amazed at my son.
I talk with him daily on the telephone but that did not prepare me for
being with him in person. I can truly say his curiosity is in full bloom
and he can express himself completely. Every day at home I witnessed a
new aspect of what he is learning, whether it be writing, reading,
drawing, computer usage etc. His vocabulary has also increased
dramatically. As for Sun Valley , I visited the school as often as I
could while at home and was very impressed with the facilities and what
I saw and heard from the staff. My daughter (Gabriella) is a first
grader at Sun Valley and she is blossoming with every year spent there.
Parents, more so fathers I think, like to believe that their children
are "a chip off the old block" however the tools and services you both
provide are what really fine tunes them. Again thank you for your
efforts, for making school enjoyable for our two kiddos, and providing
an opportunity for parents to be involved. My wife (Diana)  often
volunteers at Sun Valley and from what I hear, it is very fulfilling.

Thank you, Gib.

Great Opportunities for Parents!
